Internal Images
Following the civil war, Enrique Ochoa returned to Spain, settling in Lallorca more or less permanently until his death in 1978. There he began a new stage as an artist, in which an allegorical symbolism is present in all Ochoa’s work as a result of his seclusion and intensely introverted lifestyle, accompanied only by music and, of course, his painting.
Between 1940 and 1949, Ochoa hid himself away in Cell number 4 in the Cartuja de [Charterhouse of] Valldemosa, the same one where Chopin lived during his stay on the island. In this mystical place Ochoa created the “Internal Images”, reflections of a dream world.
